Has Your Toilet Got What It Takes

Dyno-Rod is plumbing the depths and scouring the nation from cistern to coast this summer in search of Ireland’s next SuperLoo.

The drainage experts are calling on owners of laudable lavatories, magnificent bathrooms and throne rooms fit for royalty to enter the nationwide competition, which will see one publicly accessible toilet crowned Ireland’s ultimate SuperLoo.

Members of the public are also being urged to help flush out the country’s finest facilities by encouraging businesses of every size and shape to throw their toilet paper roll into the ring.

From service stations to cafés, cinemas to community centres, every loo has a shot at taking the throne.

SuperLoo first made a splash in 1992, when the title was awarded to the Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan. More than three decades later, the competition is making a welcome return to uncover the loos that are raising the bar rather than lowering the seat.

This isn’t just a contest for fancy facilities or posh potties. SuperLoo celebrates public conveniences with character, charm, practicality and standards that are anything but bog standard. Whether it’s a quirky café restroom, a spotless library loo or a service station sanctuary, judges will be looking for facilities that leave visitors talking for all the right reasons.

Dyno-Rod Chairman Peter Crowley, who founded the original competition in the 1990s, said: “Toilets are one of the great unsung indicators of customer care. A clean, comfortable and well-maintained loo tells customers that a business takes pride in every detail. A neglected one can leave a lasting impression for all the wrong reasons.

“For more than 50 years, Dyno-Rod has been working behind the scenes to keep businesses flowing smoothly. SuperLoo is our chance to celebrate the organisations that go the extra mile to provide facilities that customers can rely on and, dare we say it, enjoy using.”

Businesses can nominate their bathrooms at superloo.ie, with entries judged on a range of criteria including cleanliness, comfort, accessibility, style, ventilation, hygiene facilities, ease of maintenance and overall customer experience. Judges will also be paying close attention to the finer details, including toilet paper quality and holder positioning — because in a competition like this, every roll counts.

Following adjudication, ten finalists will be shortlisted before the public gets to cast its vote and decide who will sit proudly on the SuperLoo throne for 2026.

Entries close on Friday, 17 July 2026, so businesses are encouraged not to sit on the opportunity.
