He has since been charged and is due to appear before a special sitting of Cork District Court at half past ten this morning.

In March of this year Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster said a postmortem found that Mark O’Connell died from severe bleeding and shock caused by a stab wound to his upper chest.

The wound caused heavy bleeding around his lung and also caused bleeding into the sac surrounding his heart she said.
