Planning permission has been granted for the construction of 217 cost rental apartments on part of Cork�s dock lands.
The units are expected to be 25 0/0 cheaper to rent than other apartments on the market.
The development on the site of former Sextant Bar as well as the former Carey�s Tool Hire site is a joint venture between property developer John Cleary and Cork City Council.
The 100 million Euro project will also consist of a 24 storey block which when constructed will be one of the tallest buildings in Ireland .
The development has been welcomed and hailed as a breath of fresh air for the city.
Work is expected to get underway early next year.
