Cork Metropole

The Cork Metropole Hotel is a classic option. With the venue hosting weddings for over 127 years now, it is part of Cork’s history, nestled in the Victorian Quarter. The hotel can cater to weddings both large and small: from intimate gatherings of 10 guests up to celebrations of up to 250 guests, with each gathering treated with the utmost reverence and care by the wedding team. There are multiple suites and event spaces available to cater to events of each size, with each creating dynamic locations for the celebration that suits you and your personal style. Their awards speak for themselves, with wins such as Best Elegant Wedding Venue and Best City Venue at the RSVP Wedding Awards and Best Intimate Wedding Venue at The Munster Wedding Awards 2022

What makes it stand apart

A major refurbishment was undertaken recently, which has completely transformed the lobby and reception area and the Merchant restaurant at the rear of the hotel. Two of the historic hotel’s ballrooms have also been refurbished, melding the history of the original ballroom with carefully considered, tasteful updates. Keeping the original features but creating a more modern feel, Taoiseach Micheál Martin officially cut the ribbon on the reopening back in July. A testament to the Cork Metropole’s warmth, a note signed by workmen from 1969 was found amid the renovations, and an appeal went out to find the men, with some of their families attending the reopening ceremony.

There are spaces to suit every type of wedding, with the Ballroom overlooking the rushing River Lee, it can seat up to 250 guests for receptions and ceremonies. Crisp white linens and elegant chandeliers make for a timeless vibe that combines modern luxuries with a historic charm. Meanwhile The Douglas Vance Suite is ideal for a more intimate affair, with space for 130 guests in banquet style seating. The suite is furnished and decorated in a late 18th-century style, for a vintage vibe that will really get the mood merry while imbuing sophistication. The Merchant Restaurant is also suited to private dining experiences, for upscale eating in a distinctive setting with loved ones. For a unique experience, celebrate with a private booking at The MET Restaurant.
