Well the summer break is over and Cork City return to action at Turners Cross on Friday night, with third place Bohemians providing the opposition.
City are currently on a 7-game winless run, but Ger Nash’s side did pick up an encouraging 1-1 draw against champions Shelbourne before the break.
City have only won 2 league games so far this season and one of them was against Friday nights opponents back in late February, with Seani Maguire and Ruairi Keating scoring for the rebel army in a 2-1 win.
Bohemians though arrive on Leeside in terrific form after a 1-0 win over Derry City last time out and Alan Reynolds side have now collected 12 points from the last 15 available.
City have picked up 11 of their 13 points at home this season and won’t fear any side at Turners Cross. The problem for Ger Nash’s side is keeping the ball out of the net. City have yet to keep a single clean sheet in the first half of the season.
The break might have come at a good time for City with the injured players getting more time to recover and for the new manager to get his message across.
The signs were certainly good in City’s previous outing, so let’s hope that they can build on that on Friday night in front of what should be a packed Turners Cross and kick on for the second half of the season.
