A man has been arrested after another man was seriously injured in a suspected stabbing in Cork in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency services were called to a house he on Bakers Road in Gurranabraher at approximately 12.30am following reports of an assault.
The critically injured man, who is believed to be in his 40s, was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment and remains in a serious condition.
Its understood the victim suffered a number of stab wounds as well as a number of broken ribs after a fight involving two men.
Gardaí have confirmed that a man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently being held for questioning.
Investigations are ongoing.
