There’s a fresh aroma wafting through the kitchens of the Metropole Hotel—and no, it’s not just the daily bread. It’s the arrival of Eoghan O’Flynn, the newly appointed Executive Head Chef, bringing with him a flavour-packed résumé and a pinch of Cork charm.
Hailing from the seaside town of Cobh, O’Flynn isn’t just stirring the pot—he’s rewriting the recipe. With over a decade of culinary experience simmered to perfection, he’s sautéed his skills across everything from Michelin-starred marvels to humble takeaways, proving he can plate up excellence whether it’s silver service or supper-on-the-go.
A proud alum of Munster Technological University, where he earned his degree in culinary arts, O’Flynn clearly knows his onions—and his reductions, emulsions, and everything in between
His career reads like a tasting menu of top-tier establishments: from the refined finesse of Bastion Restaurant to the rustic elegance of Liss Ard Estate, and even a stint at the legendary Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, where culinary dreams are whipped into reality.
Now back where his heart is—home in Cobh with his partner and their two-year-old sous-chef-in-training—O’Flynn is ready to bring his signature style to the Metropole. Expect menus that are equal parts comfort and creativity, with dishes that don’t just satisfy hunger—they spark joy.
In short, The Metropole hasn’t just hired a chef—they’ve secured the whole tasting menu. Bon appétit!
